Visions for Intercultural Music Teacher Education
This open-access volume explores how music teacher education can respond to increasing societal diversity and complexity. It argues that educators must become change agents capable of challenging entrenched traditions, hierarchies, and practices within music education. Drawing on international case studies—including intercultural collaborations and program-level initiatives—the book examines the tension, discomfort, and resilience involved in reimagining teacher training. Emphasizing policies to counter prejudice, promote equality, and foster reflexivity, it advocates transforming curricula and professional standards so that future music teachers are better equipped to serve diverse school communities
