Indigenous Knowledge and Education in Africa
This open-access book presents a compelling philosophical, theoretical, and practical argument for integrating indigenous knowledge into curriculum development and teaching across Africa. It asserts that education rooted in learners' indigenous or environment-generated knowledge fosters a deeper connection to their lived realities, leading to introspection, creativity, and innovation. The book draws on interdisciplinary examples and historical experiences to demonstrate that education must be constructed on a strong foundation of indigenous knowledge to catalyze societal transformation. It offers a pathway for Africa to advance sustainably through homegrown, grassroots ideas, promoting progress in science, technology, business, and active citizenship.
