Politics of Quality in Education
This open-access book examines the evolving concept of "quality" in education, focusing on Brazil, China, and Russia—key members of the BRICS group. Drawing from a four-year research project, it offers a comparative, sociohistorical, and transnational analysis of political relations in education, emphasizing the policies and practices of Quality Assurance and Evaluation (QAE). The contributors track QAE processes from international organizations to individual schools, analyzing how these processes influence the roles of the state, expertise, and governance. The book demonstrates how national and sub-national actors play a central role in adapting, modifying, or rejecting transnational policies. It provides valuable insights for academics, researchers, postgraduate students, practitioners, and policymakers engaged in comparative and international education studies, as well as educational policy and politics.
