PROFESSIONAL LEARNING IN EDUCATION
This book examines the central role of teachers in determining educational quality and addresses the pressing need for 'excellent' teachers and teacher education. It presents a model for teachers' professional development, focusing on three key themes: (1) professionalism of teacher educators, (2) professional development of (student) teachers, and (3) (student) teacher practices. The chapters, originating from an open call at the ISATT 2013 conference themed 'Excellence of teachers?', discuss urgent issues for practitioners, teacher educators, and researchers, concluding with an epilogue that outlines general research challenges for teacher education researchers
