Research and Development in Adult Education

For a long time, research in the fields of Adult Education (AE) and Lifelong
Learning (LLL) was mostly limited to the national level. Only in recent years
have transnational research projects begun to overcome this fragmented vision
and to work towards a shared European vision of adult education, supported
by a variety of EU policies, programmes, and actions. This study guide has been designed to provide students with an overview of current research in the fields of Adult Education and Lifelong Learning, placing special
emphasis on the European dimension in many of the projects that will be explored. At the same time, it aims to introduce readers to the main EU research guidelines and explain the relationship between EU policies on education and lifelong learning and the development of AE research.
