25 YEARS OF TRANSFORMATIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION SYSTEMSIN POST-SOVIET COUNTRIES
This open access book is the first comprehensive study of transformations in the higher education institutional landscape across fifteen former USSR countries following the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991. It examines how the unified Soviet model, which had been implemented across a vast and diverse territory for decades, has evolved into fifteen distinct national systems. These systems have been shaped by both national and global influences, yet retain remnants of the past. The book is unique in its scope, offering a thorough analysis of reforms and transformations over the past 25 years, with a focus on institutional types and their evolution through Pre‑Soviet, Soviet, and Post‑Soviet epochs. Covering all fifteen former Soviet republics, the work provides a comparative perspective on their higher education institutional landscapes. It is particularly relevant to students and researchers in higher education studies and sociology, especially those interested in historical and comparative approaches
